Children who are growing and actively engaged with new learning opportunities through time spent using an iPhone, tablet, or playing video games, let's just say, "electronics" seem to have much-needed attention for these popular gadgets than they do for an activity in the classroom, or at home that requires more focus and attention. This brought me to a video I came across this week called "Signs your child could have a learning disability." Dr. Underwood explains that a child is either uninspired, unmotivated (which may be the case for some children in schools), or they may simply be suffering from a learning disability. According to Underwood, children who fall in the LD spectrum are learning 3-4 grade levels below, have problems with memory, are lacking organizational skills, and have challenges with focusing. If you notice any of these signs working with children, or with your own kid(s) you can discuss your concerns with your child's teacher at daycare or school, as well as with a healthcare professional. I recommend including a visit to your child's doctor, that way he/she can discuss your child's overall health, any previous health concerns such as you or your spouse's pregnancy, problems during labor, diet etc.

If you would like to learn more, and gain strategies that may be useful when working with a child with LD at school or home, please visit www.learningdisabiityorjustlazy.com.

Hope you enjoyed this week's blog!
